Dal Masoor (Red lentil)
1/2 cup (washed & soaked for 15 minutes)
Dal Moong (Yellow lentil)
1/2 cup (washed & soaked for 15 minutes)
Tomatoes (medium)
2 (finely chopped)
Onion (medium)
1 (sliced)
Garlic
1 table spoon (chopped)
Green chili
2-3 (coarsely chopped)
Green coriander
1 table spoon (chopped)
Oil /Ghee
1/4 cup (for Baghar)
Tamarind pulp
1-1 1/2 table spoon (optional)
Curry leaves
9-10 (optional)
Mehran Special Dal Masala

Boil dal masoor and dal moong with 1 tea spoon chopped garlic and 2 glasses of water until they become half done.

Heat 1-2 table spoons of oil/ ghee, add onion and fry for 3-4 minutes. Then add remaining garlic and fry. Now add tomatoes, Mehran Special Dal Masala and 4-5 curry leaves. Cook till tomatoes and onion become soft.

Add cooked masala and tamarind pulp in boiled Dal and cook on medium heat until dal becomes tender. Now add green chili and remove.

For Best Result: Heat 2 table spoons oil/ ghee and add red whole chilies, curry leaves, chopped garlic and white cumin. Fry for 1-2 minutes and give Baghar/Tarka on Dal.

Cooking Suggestion:

Garnish with green coriander and green chili. Serve with chapatti, plain boiled rice and tomato onion salad (kachomar). Serve for 3-4 persons.
